Tehran’s Saba Music Museum has mounted an exhibition of unique wax dolls in traditional Persian costumes to manifest the country’s folk culture.

The doll exhibition kicked off during a ceremony on the sidelines of the 14th Tehran International Puppet Theater Festival in Tehran.

Created by the Iranian female artist Montakhab Esfandiar-e Kuh-e Nour, the wife of master musician Abolhassan Saba (1902-1957), the dolls present the diversity of regional culture in the Iranian history.

“The dolls, through an anthropological point of view, manifest the kindness and virtue of Persian women,” said secretary of the festival, Ardeshir Salehpour.

A large collection of music instruments owned by Saba and his donated selection of instruments, letters, photos, personal items are also on display at the Museum, which was once the residence of Saba family.

Born in Tehran, Saba was a renowned Iranian musician, composer, violinist, and setar player.

He learned to play Iranian music mainly from his father. He also had a remarkable knowledge of the Western classical music in his time.
