The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Tehran will be a good backing for Iran in its talks with the six world powers talks, a senior Iranian lawmaker stressed on Wednesday.

Vice-Chairman of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mansour Haqiqatpour pointed to the failure of the western efforts to isolate Iran, and stated, "The NAM summit in Tehran will promote the Islamic Republic's political face and also serve as a good political backup for Iran in its future talks with the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany)."

He further opined that the summit will help Iran boost its economy in different ways, and said the presence of the senior world officials in Tehran next week will prepare the bed for bilateral and multilateral negotiations to help Iran bypass the (western) sanctions, establish joint banks, set up transportation and transit networks and other areas of economic cooperation.

The 16th NAM summit will be held in the Iranian capital, Tehran, from August 26 to 31.

Iran announced that a number of, at least, 100 world states have underlined their definite attendance in the Tehran summit.

The Iranian officials also said that 41 countries have stressed their readiness to attend the conference at the highest level so far, adding that 27 members will participate in the meeting at the level of foreign ministers, 5 states at the level of first vice-president and one country at the level of parliament speaker.
