Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and his Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Store underlined the necessity for continued consultations and exchange of views between Tehran and Oslo.

During the meeting held on the sidelines of the 67th UN General Assembly session in New York on Tuesday, the two sides discussed bilateral relations as well as the ties between Iran and the European Union (EU).

They also conferred on the latest developments in the region, Syria and Afghanistan in particular, and exchanged views on human rights and Iran's nuclear issue.

Salehi described Iran and the European Union as "complementary" to each other.

The Iranian and Norwegian officials have in recent years boosted their efforts to further expand relations between the two countries in different fields.
