“Surely, if phases 15 and 16 (of South Pars) start production we will see an increase in the country’s (gas) sweetening capacity …,” Zanganeh told FNA on Sunday.
He reiterated that the oil ministry prioritizes expediting completion of the under-construction phases of the giant South Pars gas field.
Earlier this year, Head of Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) Mohammad Reza Zahiri announced that the first phase of sweetening operations at the gas treatment facilities of South Pars gas field phases 15 and 16 will be launched in the near future.
According to the Public Relations Department of the POGC, Zahiri said the sideline facilities of the project, including water, electricity, steam and nitrogen facilities have been launched. The sour gas from SP’s phases 6, 7 and 8 to have also been transferred to gas treatment facilities of phases 15 and 16.
At present a team of experts is trying to boost gas pressure in order to feed the gas sweetening facilities which is expected to reach a desired level for starting sweetening process at Unit 110 of the facility.
“After launching the sweetening process, dehydration and boosting pressure units will be launched quickly in order to transfer processed gas to the national gas grid for consumption,” Zahiri concluded.
