Former Deputy Foreign Minister Ebrahim Rahimpour says division of the Caspian Sea in Aktau, Kazakhstan, is not on agenda.

'The division of the Caspian Sea in the Caspian Summit is not on agenda and any decision on it will be in the future and after more talks,' said Rahimpour.

He said President Hassan Rouhani is on a visit to Kazakhstan to take part in the Caspian Summit and the joint statement is the result of 21 years of talks on Caspian legal issues.

'Division of the Sea is not an issue to be raised in the Summit and on table for several hours, one day or several years of talks. Caspian division needs more talks and will be raised in the future.'

As for the cooperation document to be signed by the five states, he said he was present in 22 out of 52 working group sessions of the deputy foreign ministers and the issue in principle was fruitful in presidency of Rouhani.

He said majority of understandings reached during this period and it indicates competency and knowledge of the president and foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on legal issues and international law.

He said the five littoral states of the Caspian Sea get together for the fifth consecutive time to sign a document on trade and environment issues, including weather, fishing, sailing, security and natural disasters.
