Georgian ambassador discusses border guards' clash with Iranians

Georgia Ambassador to Tehran Ioseb Chakhvashvili yesterday met with the assistant foreign minister and general manager of Eurasia department of Iranian foreign ministry Baqeri Moqaddam on the latest situation in the Georgian border guards’ clash with some Iranian applicants for travelling to the country.

In this meeting, Iran's complaint and the protest of the bad behaviors of some Georgian border guards with Iranian nationals has been declared to the ambassador.

Baqeri, citing the history and friendliness of the relations between the two countries, declared such unconventional clash by some Georgian border guards and an increase in the rate of return of Iranian nationals opposed to friendly relations between the two countries and termed the continuation of the process as damaging to the good relations between the two countries.

Iranian nationals should avoid unnecessary trip to Georgia till the country's government gives a clear response to Iran regarding disrespect of Iranian travelers, Bahram Qasemi said on Monday.

He noted that the Foreign Ministry of Iran pursues the case in Tehran and Tbilisi.
