Over 2 tons of narcotics seized in east Iran

Commander of the border police of Sistan-Baluchestan province Brigadier General Saeed Komeili announced on Tuesday that 2150 kilograms of narcotics have been confiscated in the city of Zabol in this southeastern province.

The border police of Zabol found out that a big haul of drugs was to be transferred into central parts of Iran, so they performed and operation and confiscated the whole load after a clash with the traffickers, he said .

He said that the police also confiscated two tractors, one Toyota pickup and one motorcycle which were used by the trafickers.

Zabol is located in the north of the province close to Afghanistan border.

Iran, as the country neighboring Afghanistan and Pakistan, is used as a transit route by drug-traffickers. Many Iranian soldiers sacrifice their lives every year in the fight against the ominous phenomenon.
