Iran, Russia work on settling regional issues: Official

Determination on both Iran and Russia to solve different regional issues has caused the two countries to enhance cooperation and coordinate policies and measures, Hossein Jaberi Ansari, a senior aide to Iran’s Foreign Minister, said on Wednesday.

Jaberi Ansari is on a visit to Moscow to meet with Russian officials. This is his second visit to Moscow within a month.

He said that the pace of developments and Iran-Russia cooperation have necessitated the exchange of delegations between Tehran and Moscow.

During his stay in Moscow, Jaberi Ansari is scheduled to meet with Russian deputy foreign ministers Sergei Vershinin and Mikhail Bogdanov. The Iranian official may also have meetings with other Russian security and military officials.

He said that the latest developments in Syria and the Arab world as well as related international developments will be on the agenda of the visit.

Jaberi Ansari also added that Iran, Russia and Turkey will hold another round of talks on Syria Peace Process in Astana within the next one or two months.

The next round of Astana talks is due to be held soon between Presidents of Iran, Russia and Turkey while the exact time of the talks is not clear yet. Analysts say the talks will focus on the dire situation in northern Syria and the committee on Syrian constitutional law.
