President Rouhani hails Iran's medical progress

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani welcomed Iran's medical progress made during the years after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Rouhani made the remarks Monday addressing Majlis (Parliament) session held to get votes of confidence for the proposed health minister Hassan Namaki. 

He underlined the importance of health sector, paying attention to patients, preventing diseases and health tourism field.

He added that the Islamic Revolution has brought achievements in various sectors of social services including health.

Referring to his government's efforts to solve problem of drugs, Rouhani said in the beginning of the Islamic Revolution 25% of the medicines were produced domestically but today 95% of them are being manufactured inside the country.

Elsewhere in his remarks, President Rouhani appreciated Majlis for ratifying four important bills against money laundering and terrorism. 

Ratification of these four bills will be an important measure taken by the Iranian government and Majlis since Iran has always been a pioneer in fighting terrorism, he reiterated.

'We should not let superpowers which have committed many acts of terror claim fighting financing terrorism,' he said.
