Iran ready to transfer ICT knowhow to Armenia: President

Tehran is ready to transfer Information and communications technology (ICT) knowhow to Yerevan, said Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Tehran on Wednesday.

'With regard to the good measures taken in constructing optical fiber transmission network from Yerevan to Iran and exchanging data, Iran and Armenia are interested to further expand their cooperation in the area of ICT industry,' said President Rouhani.

'In today's meeting, good agreements in different fields were made,' he said.

'As I said in the meeting with the Armenian Prime Minister, we appreciate Yerevan's stances about illogical and illegal sanctions on Iran.'

Iran and Armenia will continue their paths so that a third country cannot interfere with the friendly ties, said President Rouhani, adding that the two countries have good relations in politics, culture, academic studies, and tourism and intend to expand them.

He said the most important cooperation between the two neighboring nations is in the fields of natural gas and power and bartering them.

Part of the agreements made was about connecting the power grids of the two countries with those of Georgia and Russia, he added.

President Rouhani said that they also discussed linking the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea through Armenia and Georgia.
