Foreign Ministers Discuss Iran-Sweden Ties

The foreign ministers of Iran and Sweden discussed the relations between the two countries as well as regional developments in a telephone conversation.

In the telephone conversation on Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Margot Wallstrom, deputy prime minister and also the foreign minister of Sweden, discussed the latest status of Tehran-Stockholm ties, consular issues between the two countries, as well as humanitarian issues.

Iran and Sweden signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in June 2016 to convene periodic political consultations.

In May 2018, diplomats from the two sides held the third round of periodic political consultations in Tehran, discussing bilateral, regional and international issues.

In February 2017, Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven paid a visit to Tehran.

The two countries signed five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) during that trip to deepen bilateral relations and boost cooperation in various fields.
