Iran mulling reciprocal act against possible US measure against IRGC

Iran is mulling reciprocal act against possible US measure against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Referring to Iranian FM's presence in the commission, Rapporteur for the National Security Commission of Parliament said that Mohammad Javad Zarif has sent a note to the Swiss Embassy in Tehran (in charge of US interests in Iran) after recent statements by the US on the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) saying in case of realization of this, Iran will act reciprocally.

In an explanation of the public meeting on Monday of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Parliament, Ali Najafi Khoshroudi, added that the meeting was held with the presence of Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, during which the latest developments in foreign policy and the plans and actions of the diplomatic apparatus were discussed.

Pointing to the American announcement of the inclusion of the Revolution Guards in the list of terrorist groups, the foreign minister condemned the move, and emphasized that such a move would create a lot of dangers. Although the Islamic Republic of Iran is not looking for tension, but if the United States makes such a decision, the Islamic Republic of Iran will also reciprocate.

He added that in this regard, the Foreign Ministry's actions include sending a note to the Swiss Embassy in Tehran.

Najafi Khoshroudi highlighted that Zarif, criticizing the recent statement of the Group of 7, considered it a violation of the nuclear agreement by the parties to the agreement that are also a member of this group.

Referring to recent trips to Iraq as historic, he also elaborated on the achievements of these trips, including the agreement for Arvandroud dredging, the issuance of free pilgrimage visas and the decision to develop economic relations.

The rapporteur for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Parliament stated, 'Determination on strengthening economic diplomacy and taking advantage of the capacity of relations with its neighbors, US preventive measures against sending humanitarian aid to Iran's flood-hit people, US economic terrorism, the role of the Zionist regime, the latest state of INSTEX, Parliament plan to consider US troops in the region as terrorists in the event of US action against the Revolution Guard Corps, were among other issues raised by the Foreign Minister and members of the National Security Commission in the meeting.”
