FM Zarif ends New York tour with offensive diplomacy

Iranian Foreign Minister ended his six-day visit to New York on Monday which effectively encountered Team-B in a landmark offensive diplomacy.

Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in New York on April 23 to attend United Nations General Assembly annual Conference on 'Remarking and Promoting International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace'.

He embarked on intensive diplomatic campaign against lobby of warmongers in US Administration at the Asian Society.

In his speech to the Asian Society, he raised for the first time the issue of prisoners swap with US.

The US State Department reacted in a way that exchange of prisoners has been a psychological war tactic for them and they do not want to enter negotiations in this respect.

Zarif also elaborated on the warmongering measures taken by Team-B including US National Security Advisor John R. Bolton, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman and Bin Zayed of the United Arab Emirates.

In an interview with US media 'CBS', he commented on the possibility of conflict between Iran and US, saying, ''We donot want conflict, we do not want confrontation, but we haven't survived 7000 years by escaping. We resist, but we are not seeking confrontation. We don't believe that President Trump wants confrontation. But, we know that there are people who are pushing for one.'

Zarif went on to say: 'US administration is putting things in place for accidents to happen. And there has to be extreme vigilance, so that people who are planning this type of accident would not have their way.'

Speaking in the UNGA meeting, Zarif in a statement provided the world with a list of US unilateral acts, stressing that Iran has always supported multilateralism and diplomacy for peace.

In a separate meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Iranian foreign minister discussed regional and international issues, US unilateralism and crises in Syria, Libya, Sudan and Yemen.

In his meeting with president of United Nations General Assembly María Fernanda Espinosa, both sides reviewed the importance of UN role as the most democratic body in solving international problems.

Meanwhile, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza in a meeting with Zarif discussed the latest developments in his country which is about to civil war due to US interventions.
While in New York, Zarif also held talks with Finnish Foreign Minister Timo Soini.

Iranian foreign minister had separate interviews with various media such as Reuters, Al-Monitor, CBS and Fox News.

Finally on Sunday night, Zarif in a message accused US National Security Advisor John R. Bolton and the B-Team of targeting Iranian people with 'economic terrorism'.

'While @AmbJohnBolton and the #B_Team say the Iranian people 'deserve better', they’ve admitted to targeting them with #EconomicTerrorism—and even war— in a delusional pursuit of 'regime-change',' he said

'But will @realDonaldTrump let them realize their dreams of another #ForeverWar?,' he added.
