FM Zarif to hold meeting with Indian officials

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is slated to visit India to discuss issues of mutual interest with senior Indian officials.

Zarif who is now in Turkmenistan is supposed to have a trip to New Delhi on Monday night.

Earlier during the last Iranian calendar year, Zarif made a trip to India to attend RAISINA meeting.

He also held meetings with Indian officials on developing relations.

The Raisina Dialogue is a multilateral conference held in New Delhi annually. Since its inception in 2016, the conference has emerged as India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geo-economics.

Zarif, heading a high-ranking economic delegation, arrived in Ashgabat on Sunday for a series of talks with senior Turkmen officials. 

Earlier today, the Iranian foreign minister met with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. 

The Iranian foreign minister and Turkmen officials discussed various bilateral, regional and international developments.

Iran and Turkmenistan share over 1,000 km border, including the Caspian Sea coastline.

The two sides have enjoyed good relations since Turkmenistan gained independence from the former Soviet Union in 1991.
