Iran, Turkey presidents discuss boosting economic, banking collaboration

Governor of Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Abdolnaser Hemmati said on Monday that Iranian and Turkish presidents' talks today (Monday) were centered on ways to promote economic and trade ties, especially banking relations.

In a note on Instagram page on Monday, he added that they stressed the need for increasing trade volume and settle banking issues in a bid to pursue upgrading exchanges using national currency, which currently stands at 34 percent.

On the order of the two countries' presidents, banking issues were discussed with Governor of Central Bank of Turkey on the sidelines of the talks when good memoranda of understanding were reached, Hemmati said.

It was also agreed that staff of Central Bank of Iran take part in the educational courses of Central Bank of Turkey to gain further skills in open market operations, he said.
