Top diplomat urges US to provide verifiable sanctions lifting

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Abbas Araghchi in a message emphasized that the United States should first provide verifiable sanctions lifting.

"Yesterday I spent 4hrs before our Parliament's NatSec/FP Commission to brief MPs on Vienna talks. Very tough. But useful," Araghchi wrote in his Twitter account on Monday.

"Bottom line is same: Having left JCPOA, US must first provide verifiable sanctions lifting," he added.

"Iran will then resume full implementation. Is the US ready"? he noted.

Earlier on Sunday, President Hassan Rouhani said that Iran would move on with the talks in Vienna until a final agreement is reached, noting that US maximum pressure proved to be ineffective given Iran’s production growth in different industrial sectors.

Iran, China, Russia, Britain, France and Germany, as participants of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), have intensified their efforts in recent weeks to revive the deal and reach an agreement so that the United States can rejoin it after removing sanctions against Iran.

Participants had a video conference in early April which led to the decision to begin JCPOA revival talks in the form of Joint Commission of the JCPOA in Vienna.

Since then, five rounds of talks have been held in Vienna.
