FM: Iran ready to deepen comprehensive ties with Ukraine

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said that Iran continues its efforts to end the war in Ukraine, adding that Tehran is ready to comprehensively develop relations with Kiev.

Amirabdollahian made the remarks in a phone call with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba.

He reiterated Iran's principled position against war, saying, "As we have declared since the beginning of the crisis, we are against war in Afghanistan, Yemen, Palestine, and also Ukraine."

Iran's practical policy is also based on this principle and is against any action that leads to escalation of conflicts, Amirabdollahian pointed out.

He refuted the US National Security Advisor's recent baseless allegations against Iran, regarding sending Iranian drones to Russia to be used in the war against Ukraine, saying that attributing such claims at the same time with US President Joe Biden's trip to the occupied Palestinian territories is in line with specific political objectives.

Iran’s principled and clear position against war and supporting the cessation of war is not like that of the West which are based on the dual approach, Amirabdollahian said.

Iran is to continue its efforts to end the war in Ukraine and to solve the issue politically, he added.

Kuleba, for his part, praised Iran's positions against war, saying, "Ukraine values continuation of interactions between the foreign ministers of Iran and Ukraine."

He offered his agreement with Iranian counterpart that others’ accusations should not be allowed to damage the friendly relations between Kiev and Tehran.

Kuleba expressed Kiev readiness to open a new chapter of ties with Tehran.

He also lauded Tehran for its efforts to help establish a ceasefire and its focus on a political solution.
