Iran's South Pars development extraordinary amid sanctions: Official

The development of phase 11 of the South Pars gas field is exceptional because the relocation of a platform at Phase 11 of the project helps Iran save nearly $800 million, an Iranian official said.

Managing director of Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) Mohammad Hossein Motejali told IRNA on Thursday that Phase 11 of the South Pars gas field is of great importance for the Islamic Republic in particular for the Ministry of Oil, because this phase is the farthest border platform of South Pars, which is located at the zero-border point of the country.

The project is also essential because development activities of the phase were halted for 20 years due to imposed international circumstances, he noted.

However, the administration of President Ebrahim Raisi, including the Oil Ministry as well as the National Iranian Oil Company took a punctual decision to inaugurate Platform 11B of the South Pars Phase 11, the official argued.

Motejali also said that one of the extraordinary facts about the South Pars Phase 11 is that Platform 12C was relocated to Platform 11B, which saved 800 million dollars for the country.

All technical labors have been done by relying on Iranian experts, he said, adding that for the first time, ordinary people were present in the inauguration ceremony of Phase 11 with the aim of being aware of the efforts made in this respect.
