In a post on his X account on Wednesday, Baqaei commemorated the anniversary of the nationalization of Iran’s oil industry in 1951.
“March 19 is not just an occasion on the calendar, but a testament to the determination of Iranians to resist bullying and intimidation, and a symbol of the national will to rule over their own destiny and defend national dignity,” he stated.
The spokesperson also praised the people of Iran for steering the country toward progress by relying on national capabilities and drawing lessons from historical experiences.
March 19, which coincides with the 29th of Esfand on the Iranian calendar, marks the Nationalization of the Oil Industry, a historic movement led by Mohammad Mosaddeq, the then-prime minister of Iran.
The Oil Industry Nationalization Act was signed unanimously by the Oil Commission of Parliament on March 17, 1951, and was passed by Iran’s then-Senate on March 19 of the same year.
