Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council Mohsen Rezayee underlined that Iranian officials and nation have proved during the years after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979 that they are able to thwart the political, military, cultural and economic plots hatched by the enemies to bring them to their knees.

Rezayee underscored Iran's logical confrontation with the economic war imposed by enemies, and said, "This is a big test for the Islamic Republic (of Iran) that will have positive impacts (gaining self-sufficiency) on the country's (economy)."

In mid-August 2013, Head of Iran’s Civil Defense Organization Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali said that enemies have launched the latest version of modern economic warfare against Iran, but Tehran enjoys abundant capabilities to confront the enemies' plots.

"Economic warfare has a long record in the history, but its most modern form is the war launched against us," Jalali said addressing a forum in Tehran at the time.
