Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami on Monday underlined Iran's political, social and economic capacities to overcome the sanctions re-imposed by the US.

'Enemies' sanctions will result in empowerment of Iran,' Brigadier General Hatami said addressing a local ceremony.

He referred to Iran's geopolitical situation, natural and human resources, scientific progress and big market, and said that the adversaries cannot undermine the Islamic Republic's sources of power.

The minister said that Iran's defense industry can compete with the world defense industry in all aerial, ground, sea, missile and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAVs) fields.

The Islamic Republic of Iran will deter the enemies' conspiracies with people's support, Hatami noted.

Iran and five permanent members of the UN Security Council (the US, France, Britain, China, and Russia) plus Germany signed the nuclear deal in 2015. Iran accepted to curb its nuclear program in exchange for economic sanctions relief.

US President Donald Trump withdrew from the deal in May, calling it the worst deal ever. Washington has also re-imposed the economic sanctions that will take effect on August 6.
