The 'Cinema in Iran' conference was organized by the Iran Media Program at the Annenberg School for Communication of the University of Pennsylvania with the corporation of the Free University of Berlin, Institute for Film Studies, and George Washington University.
The two-day event which kicked off on December 16, 2011, discussed Iranian cinema as part of the country's rich media and cultural ecology.
Renowned scholars from France, Brazil, Germany, Belgium, UK, India and the US attended the conference.
Participants focused on the contemporary political and industrial context in which Iranian films are produced, distributed, and consumed and the cinematic circulation and flows among Iranians in Iran and other countries.
