Esmaeil Baqaei, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has expressed condolences over the fire incident in Hong Kong, China, which led to the death of dozens of people and the injury of several others.

In a message on Thursday, Baqaei conveyed condolences and sympathy of the people and government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the families of the victims and to the government of the Hong Kong special administrative region and wished health and recovery for the injured.

The fire in Wang Fuk Court residential complex in the Tai Po district occurred early Wednesday morning. The Tai Po area is in the northern suburbs of Hong Kong, near the city of Shenzhen in mainland China.

China Central Television (CCTV) has announced that according to the latest statistics, the number of victims of the fire has risen to 55. It was previously reported that in this incident, which was the most severe fire in Hong Kong in the past 17 years, 36 people had died and 279 were missing.
