In a post on his X account on Thursday, Baqaei wrote, “4 December is designated by UNGA resolution 79/293 as the International Day against Unilateral Coercive Measures (UCMs), which coincides with the day the Declaration on the Right to Development was adopted (UNGA resolution 41/128 of 4 December 1986).”
He added, “Unilateral coercive measures, i.e., economic, banking, and financial sanctions, violate fundamental Human Rights, including the right to development as well as the right to life, health, and education.”
The official further noted, “By targeting the lives and health of entire populations, UCMs amount to a crime against humanity”.
“The United States must be held accountable for committing such crimes against humanity through application of illegal and inhuman sanctions against the peoples of developing countries, including Iran,” Baqaei reiterated.
