Iran Stresses the Need to Preserve Yemen’s Unity and Territorial Integrity

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson has emphasized that Tehran is closely monitoring security developments in southern and eastern Yemen, calling on all relevant parties to exercise restraint and resolve ongoing issues through dialogue, with due regard for the interests of the Yemeni people and regional security considerations.

According to Khabaronline, an Iranian news agency, In response to journalists’ questions about recent developments in Yemen, Esmail Baghaei stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is following the situation on the ground attentively and believes that a sustainable path out of the crisis lies in political dialogue and understanding among Yemeni parties. He stressed that any action leading to increased instability in Yemen or heightened insecurity in the region is unacceptable from Tehran’s perspective.

Referring to previous positions expressed by Iranian officials, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson noted that stabilizing the situation and consolidating peace in Yemen can only be achieved through Yemeni–Yemeni talks and the implementation of an agreed roadmap. He added that Iran views the resolution of the Yemeni crisis as dependent on comprehensive dialogue, the formation of an inclusive government, and adherence to the principles of national unity and territorial integrity.

Within this framework, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has also held a series of intensive consultations with regional counterparts in recent days. In a telephone conversation with Bahrain’s foreign minister, Araghchi expressed concern over rising tensions in southern Yemen and underscored the need for collective efforts by regional countries to preserve Yemen’s unity and territorial integrity. The Bahraini foreign minister likewise emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in Yemen and the wider region.

According to the report, Iran’s foreign minister has recently held telephone talks with his counterparts from Qatar and Bahrain, the acting foreign minister of Yemen’s Government of Change and Construction, as well as the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman, focusing on developments in Yemen and ways to help reduce tensions and advance a political dialogue.
