Raisi sends condolences to Haniyeh over his family members’ killings in Israeli attack

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi has extended his condolences over the martyrdom of several members of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh in an Israeli regime attack in northern Gaza.

Raisi sent a message to Haniyeh on Wednesday evening after the Palestinian resistance leader confirmed the martyrdom of three sons and three grandchildren in the Israeli attack on Shati refugee camp earlier in the day.

The president expressed deep sorrow of himself and the Iranian nation over the loss of Haniyeh’s family members, saying that “the crime further revealed the brutal and child-killing nature of this regime.”

The attack also showed that the Zionist regime does not adhere to any humane and moral principles in order to save itself from the “quagmire of collapse” and to cover up its misery and failure in the face of the resistance front, he added.

In a reference to Western countries, Raisi said that those who proclaim themselves to be human rights champions have remained silent on such unprecedented crimes, paving the way for the repetition of them and therefore being complicit in those crimes.

In an interview with Al Jazeera Arabic, Haniyeh said that his sons and grandchildren were targeted as they were visiting relatives for Eid al-Fitr at Shati refugee camp on Wednesday.
