Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi says Iran is committed to the friendly diplomatic relations with Qatar following a missile strike on an American air base in the Arab country, which came in retaliation for U.S. airstrikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Araqchi made the remarks during a phone conversation with his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, on Tuesday.

Touching on Operation Harbinger of Conquest conducted early on Monday evening, he said that Iran’s military strikes on the Al-Udeid base was in response to the United States’ unprovoked aggression against Iran’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty that took place on June 22.

Araqchi emphasized that Iran’s retaliatory strike should not, in any way, be considered an action against the brotherly and friendly government of Qatar.

The top diplomat highlighted Iran’s determination to further bolster ties with Qatar based on good-neighborliness policy and mutual interests.

Iran will not allow the friendly relations between the Islamic Republic and other regional countries to be affected by these evil measures, Araqchi said.

The Iranian minister praised Qatari officials for condemning the U.S. and Israeli aggression against Iran, and the constructive role Qatar has played in preventing the escalation of tensions in the region.

For his part, the Qatari official emphasized his country’s commitment to playing a constructive role in maintaining regional security and stability.

The United States carried out strikes against three Iranian nuclear facilities on Sunday, becoming a direct party to the war of aggression that the Israeli regime started against Iran on June 13.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei had already warned the United States that its intervention would bring America “irreparable harm.”
