Following the activation of the snapback mechanism by the European trio—Britain, France, and Germany—Iranian lawmaker Hassan Qashqavi stated on Monday that Iran’s nuclear activities will continue with greater intensity.

Speaking to IRNA, Qashqavi, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said the Supreme National Security Council has deemed the European move illegal and a form of coercion against Iran.

He noted that parliamentary discussions are underway to reassess Iran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in light of these developments.

Qashqavi emphasized that the psychological impact of UN Security Council sanctions often outweighs their actual economic effect, pointing out that fluctuations in foreign currency prices are frequently driven by perception rather than fundamentals.

He urged media outlets to help the public understand the psychological dimensions of the snapback mechanism, adding that Iran has previously endured similar sanctions while continuing to advance in both nuclear and military sectors.

On the possibility of Iran withdrawing from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), Qashqavi clarified that the current focus is on suspending cooperation with the IAEA, a measure already approved by Parliament.

He also called for unity among political factions to confront national challenges and recommended strengthening economic ties with allies such as China and Russia to improve Iran’s economic outlook.
