Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi says that closer cooperation between Moscow and Tehran enables more effective action against the West’s illegal sanctions.

“Building on our Strategic Partnership Treaty, Iran and Russia’s foreign ministries have agreed on a three-year roadmap to regularize and elevate our cooperation and coordination,” Araghchi wrote on his X account on Thursday at the conclusion of his trip to Russia.

He added, “Closer collaboration between Moscow and Tehran will enable stronger action against unlawful Western sanctions, promote regional stability, advance infrastructure projects, and block illegal measures in the UN Security Council.”

“Our neighbors are our priority.”

Following intensive consultations and at the conclusion of his trip to Belarus, Araghchi arrived in Moscow on Tuesday to meet and hold talks with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, as well as a number of political, parliamentary, and academic figures of the country.

On the first day of his visit to Moscow, Araghchi met and held discussions with officials from the State Duma and the Federation Council, the two pillars of Russia’s parliament.

On Wednesday, Araghchi attended MGIMO University and delivered a speech to the faculty and students.
