Iran’s top army cmdr. meets Omani military officials in Muscat

Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri has held talks with Omani Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs Shihab bin Tariq Al Said in Muscat.

The meeting took place on Monday, with the two officials discussing relations between their countries as well as issues of mutual interest, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.

Chief of Staff of Oman’s Armed Forces Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Iran’s Ambassador to Oman Ali Najafi and the military attaché at the Iranian Embassy in Muscat were also present at the meeting, according to the report.

Meanwhile, Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi and Major General Bagheri held separate talks as well, discussing military affairs of the two countries.

Bagheri arrived in Oman on Sunday at the head of a high-ranking military delegation. Upon arrival there, he said that his trip would help expand cooperation aimed at promoting peace in the region.

Among the delegates accompanying Bagheri is Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari, the Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force.

On Monday, Heidari met and held talks with Commander of the Royal Army of Oman Major General Mattar Salim Al Balushi.
