Over 500 prestigious Persian works translated: Official

Iran's Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Mehdi Esmaeili says that over 500 prestigious Persian works have been translated into various languages.

Speaking to IRNA on the sidelines of 34th Tehran International Book Fair on Friday, Esmaeili said that about 500 valuable works were translated into different languages last year.

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and President Ebrahim Raisi have called for the translation of the works.

Introduction of Iran’s achievements in the fields of Iran’s history and culture and those of the Islamic Revolution as well as the issues related to the Sacred Defense are on the agenda, he stated.

The 34th edition of the Tehran International Book Fair is being held in the Iranian capital under the slogan of “Future is worth reading.”

Some 200 booksellers, 100 foreign publishers and 2,700 domestic publishers participated in the prestigious event that will be underway until May 20.
