Seyyed Rasoul Mousavi, who is the director-general of the Foreign Ministry's West Asia Department, said on Wednesday that he had met with G.P. Singh, head of the Pakistan-Afghanistan-Iran division in the Indian Ministry of External Affair, earlier in the day, to explore ways of improving bilateral ties.
“During this session, a wide range of bilateral, regional, and international issues were discussed, and we have set our plans for the next six months in various aspects of bilateral relations,” he said.
A member of the BRICS group of emerging economies, India is an important trading partner for Iran.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian met with his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, earlier this month on the sidelines of a BRICS summit in Cape Town, South Africa, where the two focused on efforts to expand of economic ties between Iran and India.
