Iran expands ties with China based on mutual respect: official

The head of Iran’s house of political parties said in a meeting that the Islamic Republic has always developed its cooperation with China in line with mutual respect and without meddling in each other’s affairs.

Qodratali Heshmatian made the remarks in a meeting held at the hall of Iranian Ministry of Interior with Head of the International Liaison Department of the Chinese Communist Party Liu Jianchao and his 12-member delegation, IRNA reported on Wednesday.

The great countries of Iran and China have been in contact since the activation of the Silk Road, Heshmatian said in the meeting.

As he quoted from the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Islamic Republic will never forget China’s cooperation with Iran in the sanctions era.

For his part, the Chinese official highlighted the 20-year record of relations between the Chinese and Iranian parties and called for further close cooperation between the two sides.

Abdollah Moradi, the director general of Interior Ministry’s office of political affairs and a number of senior representatives from country’s house of political parties were present in the meeting.
