Ebrahim Raeisi congratulated the successful holding of the parliamentary elections of Bangladesh and the beginning of the new term of the Prime Minister of Sheikh Hasina Wajed in a message.

He stated that Iran and Bangladesh will witness the expansion of all-round relations in line with mutual benefits due to the cultural, historical, and religious ties and common values of the two nations considering the appropriate capacities and the good records of cooperation between the two countries which are important and influential in the Islamic world.

General elections took place in Bangladesh on 7 January 2024, under the constitutional requirement, stating that elections must take place within the 90 days before the expiration of the current term of the Jatiya Sangsad on 29 January 2024.

The Awami League, led by incumbent Sheikh Hasina, won the election for the fourth consecutive time.
