Spox highlights Gaza tragedies as measure of adherence to human rights

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani has stated that the painful tragedies in Gaza over the last six months serve as a yardstick for assessing the adherence of governments and the international community to human rights.

In his statement on his X account on Friday, Kanaani emphasized that the recent events in Gaza provide a measure of how well governments, institutions, and international bodies uphold their human, moral, legal, and international responsibilities regarding human rights.

The reaction of countries and government officials who claim to champion human rights is telling, he said, adding that their response to the horrific actions of Israeli soldiers—killing and burying two unarmed Palestinian youths on the southwest coast of Gaza—reveals the sincerity behind their human rights slogans and assertions.

Notably, the death toll from Israeli regime's war on Gaza since October 7 has reached 32,623, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
