This “Pardon” Looks Suspicious! A war By Year-End Is Unlikely, But…

An Iranian Middle East analyst stated that Netanyahu’s pardon request, at this particular moment in the region, appears suspicious and that signals and indicators must be followed more closely to reach a more accurate assessment.

According to KhabarOnline, Ahmad Zeydabadi, a Palestinian affairs analyst and Iranian reformist activist, wrote on his Telegram channel under the title “It looks suspicious!” about Netanyahu’s unexpected request for pardon:

Netanyahu’s request for a pardon without admitting guilt looks highly suspicious. He has cited “great challenges and major opportunities for Israel” as the justification for seeking a pardon. When he uses this kind of language, he is usually referring to Iran.

From an analytical standpoint, I do not consider a war between Israel and Iran likely at least until the end of the current Iranian year, but Netanyahu’s behavior gives me pause.

Signals and indicators must be monitored more carefully in order to reach a more precise conclusion.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, has officially submitted a request for a pardon in his corruption case, claiming that doing so serves the “public interest.”

The Israeli presidency announced on Sunday, November 30, that Benjamin Netanyahu, who faces long-running corruption charges, has submitted his formal request for a pardon to President Isaac Herzog.
