Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations pushed back on Wednesday against remarks by a United States envoy calling for zero uranium enrichment on Iranian territory and urging Tehran to accept what Washington described as an extended hand of diplomacy.

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), the Iranian mission said calls for “zero enrichment, ultimatums, and coercion wrapped in diplomatic vocabulary” did not amount to negotiations, but instead showed an effort to force capitulation rather than reach an agreement.

Iran also accused the United States of lacking credibility on diplomacy, saying Washington had openly acknowledged its leading role in enabling and coordinating Israel’s war against Iran.

The mission added that its stance was “anchored in the rule of law, not the rule of power.”
