The sixth plane carrying Iranian aid landed in an airport in Latakia, western Syria, early on Friday to help the quake-stricken people.

Alireza Fadavi, Iran's cultural attaché in Latakia, told IRNA that this is the second Iranian aid plane that landed in this Syrian city during the past three days after the deadly earthquake in Syria and Turkiye on Monday (February 6) that jolted the two countries and killed over 17,000 till now as the number of the dead is increasing according to reports.

Already, the Islamic Republic of Iran had dispatched two cargoes of humanitarian aid to Damascus and two others to Aleppo.

A powerful earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale rocked Turkiye and Syria early on Monday, claiming the lives of over 17,000, injuring thousands of people and displacing many others.
