Habibollahzadeh submitted his credentials to President Erdogan in a meeting held in Ankara, the Turkish capital, on Thursday afternoon.
In the meeting, the Turkish president referred to Ashura – the 10th day of the first month of Islamic year which commemorates the martyrdom anniversary of the third Imam of Shia Muslims, Imam Hossein – as a symbol of equality between the Muslims and a pretext for unity in the Islamic societies.
Further, the Turkish president called for fostering Ankara-Tehran economic ties, and as he stressed the 30-billion-dollar trade for the two countries is accessible.
President Erdogan also called for further bilateral relations in the fight against terrorism and Islamophobia.
For his part, the new Iranian ambassador elaborated on his plans for expansion of cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
As the ambassador underlined, he will pursue cooperation in the international, regional and bilateral arenas.
He stressed that promotion of Tehran-Ankara economic cooperation is on the agenda.
In his remarks, the ambassador appreciated Turkiye and other Islamic countries for the stance they took on condemning desecration of the holy Quran in Sweden and Denmark.
As the ambassador noted, strengthening of unity among the Muslims is needed to stand against Islamophobia and against the sacrilege to the religious sanctities.
