Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and UN Chief Ban Ki-moon elaborated on the contents of their talks at a press conference here in Tehran .

"At present, what we see in the region is the result of certain countries' adventurism; of course I have expressed my concerns over the issues and events in Syria (in talks with Ban Ki-moon)," Larijani said at a joint press conference after meeting the UN Chief in Tehran on Wednesday.

"God willing, Mr. secretary-general will show a more active presence in these fields and will not allow the bullying powers to create chaos and tumult in the region," he added.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country. Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes. The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.
