The official meeting of the government of Pakistan cabinet was chaired by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Friday and the Pakistani officials reviewed the latest developments related to foreign relations, the internal situation of the country, especially the meeting of the heads of Iran and Pakistan at the common border point.
Pakistani Prime Minister also stressed the two sides' determination for inaugurating an electricity transmission line in southeastern Iran between Iran’s Polan and Pakistan’s Gabd regions.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said on Thursday that Iran and Pakistan have very deep relations that are rooted in the shared beliefs of histories of the two countries while insisting that Tehran and Islamabad have a serious determination to expand bilateral relations.
Meanwhile, Pakistan's prime minister in a Twitter message said: “I had a very constructive, and fruitful meeting with H.E. Dr. Ebrahaim Raisi, President of Iran.”
“We agreed to double down on our collective efforts to fully unpack the potential of our bilateral ties,” he added.
“We have prioritized the areas of trade, investment, information technology, agriculture & power for the roadmap of future cooperation. For this purpose, accelerating the pace of work on FTA will be given a priority,” he stressed.
“It was a memorable day for the people of Balochistan yesterday. The joint inauguration of Mand-Pishin border market & Polan-Gabd transmission line will uplift the standard of living of the people by opening up new opportunities of socio-economic development,” Sharif said.
“There is an immense untapped potential of border markets that we plan to unpack in due course of time. Mand-Pishin marketplace is one of six other border points,” he noted.
“My appreciation is due to all those who ensured the completion of the transmission line project in record four months that was pending since 2009.”
