Iran among 4 nations capable of producing hypersonic missile: General

Commander of IRGC Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh says Iran is now among only four countries that have the technology to produce hypersonic missiles.

Hajizadeh made the remarks during the unveiling ceremony of the Fattah (Conqueror) hypersonic missile in Tehran on Tuesday morning.

“The missile that was unveiled today is unique in the world ... With this unveiling, Iran became one of the four countries that have this technology,” he said.

He described Fattah as an all-encompassing missile featuring a warhead with a spherical engine, a solid fuel propulsion system, and a guiding system, adding that the hypersonic missile is ignited by a spherical propellant when it reaches the predicted range, i.e. within 100s of kilometers of the target.

Hajizadeh further explained that the missile has a movable nozzle that allows the missile to be guided in all directions. When this is done, he said, the missile can move to the left and right, up and down, and rotate above the Earth’s atmosphere.

“We are able to achieve any target within a distance of 1,400 kilometers,” he said, adding that there is no defense system that can counter the missile.

Elsewhere in his comments, the general said that Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei named the missile Fattah (Conqueror) when he was presented with a report about its features.
