Iran calls for promoting medical ties with Japan

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has termed unilateral US sanctions against Tehran as illegal while stressing that need for promoting cooperation between Iran and Japan in pharmaceutical and medical equipment fields.

Speaking in a meeting with the Japanese Minister of Health, Labour, and Welfare Katsunobu Kato on Sunday, Amirabdollahian elaborated on mechanisms that could  allow the Japanese companies’ participation in the pharmaceutical and medical equipment sector in Iran.

He hailed the political relations and mutual cultural respect that exist between Iran and Japan and appreciated Tokyo's donation of vaccines to Iran during the outbreak of COVID19 in the country.

The minister also elaborated on progresses made by Iran in the field of new technologies, especially in the medical sector. 

Meanwhile, Kato referred to the presence of the Iranian foreign minister in Japan on the 78th Anniversary of Hiroshima Bombing and stressed his country’s opposition to weapons of mass destruction.

He stressed cooperation with Iran, especially in the pharmaceutical field, and expressed his satisfaction with Iran’s progress in the field of new medical technologies.

The two sides also reviewed issues related to Iranian labor force as well as consular cooperation between Iran and Japan.
