China calls for protecting civilian lives in Ukraine war

A Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman has called for the protection of civilian lives and facilities in the Ukraine war.

China's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning made the remarks in her regular press conference on Monday.

"China’s position on the Ukraine crisis is consistent and clear. We call on relevant parties to exercise maximum restraint, refrain from attacking civilian facilities and protect civilians," she said.

She further asserted that "China always believes that dialogue and negotiation are the only viable solution to the Ukraine crisis," adding that "We hope all parties will work for a political settlement of the crisis, reach a ceasefire soon and jointly deescalate the situation."

The Russo-Ukrainian War is an ongoing international conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which began on 24 February 2022.
