Iran FM says held important talks with Russian counterpart during Moscow visit

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian shared a twitter post on Wednesday night, giving a brief of his talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow earlier in the day.

“Today in Moscow, I had important and productive discussions with Mr. Lavrov on mutual issues as well as regional and international issues,” said the tweet by Amirabdollahian, which he wrote in the Persian language.

The top Iranian diplomat also said in his tweet that he had exchanged views with his Russian counterpart about long-term cooperation between the two countries, and that they followed up on agreements reached by the Russian and Iranian presidents in the past months.

Amirabdollahian said that he had also attended a meeting of the Russian State Duma’s Foreign Relations Committee, as part of his trip to Moscow where he arrived early on Wednesday at the head of a high-ranking delegation.

The foreign minister said he had paid a visit to the Iranian Embassy as well, where he inaugurated the section issuing identity cards for Iranians residing in Russia.
