"Medea in Kandahar" will be staged by Asghar Khalili

Writer and theater director Asghar Khalili has brought the tragic character “Medea” from ancient Greece to Afghanistan today and will stage a play based on it.

According to KhabarOnline news agency, Asghar Khalili, writer and theater director, in his latest work, has recreated the play "Medea", a work by Euripides. This play called "Medea in Kandahar" will be staged every night from April 7, 1401 for 21 minutes in the hall of Master Ezzatolah Entezami of the House of Iranian Artists.

This play is a retelling of the play "Medea", in the dramatic situation of Afghanistan and the situation of the Taliban. Medea's confrontation with the Taliban and the current cultural and political situation of women in Afghanistan have made a dramatic difference in the story itself, and the repetition of Medea's story with a changed ending is another prominent feature of a text written by Asghar Khalili.

In this play, Hamid Reza Kazemipour, Behzad Mohseni, Nazila Ahmadi, Narges Hazare and Mani Khalili will play roles.

Sepideh Mirsamadzadeh (Assistant Director), Ahmad Nokhodian (Project Manager), Ali Soleimani (Production Coordinator), Mohammad Naderi (Composer), Maryam Salimi (Costume Designer), Hassan Mohammadi (Light Designer), Shahram Azimi (Poster Designer), Hossein Golestan (photographer) and Amin Kordbacheh Changi (public relations and media consultant) are among the factors that help Asghar Khalili as the writer and director of this work in the New Experience group.
